TESTING SERVICES

I provide psychological and psycho-educational assessments for children, adolescents and adults.

Testing varies based on the needs of the individual, and can involve a structured interview, assessment of intellectual capability, measurement of processing abilities, learning style, attention and memory parameters and self-assessment surveys. In cases with children, testing can include academic achievement measures and parent, teacher or school observations. Parents will often use psychological testing a starting point to evaluate the best course for their child, whether that be treatment, therapy, or a special educational path.

These evaluations are a useful tool in identifying areas of personal strengths and challenges that may be affecting individuals at home, school, work, or in their relationships. The results from the assessment are used to develop personalized strategies or recommendations for achieving greater success and functioning.

I conduct evaluations for the following issues:

  • Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder

  • Learning Disorders

  • Intellectual Assessment and Cognitive Abilities

  • Personality Functioning and Dynamics

  • Giftedness

Common reasons for seeking an assessment include:

  • Diagnostic clarification

  • Identifying cognitive, intellectual, and/or emotional strengths and challenges

  • Evaluating need/eligibility for accommodations in school or work

  • Evaluating need/eligibility for accommodations for standardized testing (e.g. GRE, LSAT, GMAT, MCAT)

  • Adjunct to psychotherapy

There are some psychological assessments that I do not provide.  These may include:

  • Child custody, parental fitness, or related assessments for family-court proceedings

  • Forensic evaluations, such as legal competency

  • Medically-focused neuropsychological evaluations
